Singapore Parallel Train (SPT) is an integrated petrochemicals development project on Jurong Island, home to a vast petrochemical processing complex. The project involves the installation of a new LNG (liquefied natural gas) processing line.

Portastor supplied eight packaged substation buildings to provide power for different parts of the LNG processing line. These were all IEC standard buildings, each comprising two or three modules. The largest building measured 36m x 12m x 4.5m high, incorporating a separate battery room annexe.
All of the buildings were fully fitted out at the Portastor site in York with motor control centres, UPS, LV and MV switchgear, controls and air-conditioning systems. These were fully tested in York prior to despatch to the docks, for shipping to Singapore.
The buildings were blast rated up to 450mb and designed to meet low-response criteria, which ensures there is minimal structural damage to the building in the event of an explosion.
Due to the coastal location, the buildings were given the highest marine-grade finish, to protect against corrosion. They were delivered over a ten-month period in line with the roll-out programme, with Portastor specialists supervising the installation on Jurong Island.
